Any questions?
What is a freestanding bath ?
A freestanding bath — also known as a standalone or freestanding bathtub — is a model that sits freely in the bathroom, without being fixed to a wall. Finished on all sides, it becomes the centrepiece of the room.
Unlike a built-in bath, installation is straightforward : no tiling around it, no panel to fix. It rests on its own feet or an integrated base. At Spalina, all our freestanding baths are made from premium acrylic, available in several shapes — oval, rectangular, round or asymmetric — and in several finishes : gloss white, matte black, matte grey.
Not to be confused with the semi-freestanding bath, which keeps the look of a freestanding model while leaning against a wall — the ideal solution for more compact bathrooms.
How much space do you need for a freestanding bath ?
A freestanding bath requires at least 60 cm of clearance on each side to allow comfortable movement and access to the taps. You will therefore need a bathroom of at least 7 to 8 m², depending on the model chosen.
For tighter spaces, compact models are the way to go : the Loom 2.0 (130x130 cm, round) or the Stellar (170x75 cm, rectangular) offer a smaller footprint without compromising on comfort. If you have less than 60 cm of clearance on one side, a semi-freestanding bath will be more suitable — it keeps the look of a freestanding model while leaning against a wall, and is available in 160 cm, 170 cm and 180 cm.

Which bath is the most comfortable ?
There is no universal answer — comfort depends on your height, how you use the bath, and the space available. That said, several criteria make a real difference : interior length, basin depth, backrest shape and material.
For length, allow at least 170 cm if you are 5'9" or taller — our 170 cm baths and 180 cm baths allow full immersion. For depth, freestanding oval baths are generally deeper than standard built-in models. For massage, a whirlpool bath adds an incomparable relaxation dimension — toning water jets or enveloping air bubbles depending on the system chosen. For two people, our 2-person baths offer generous space with moulded ergonomic seating.
In all cases, the acrylic used in all Spalina baths guarantees a soft touch and excellent heat retention — two factors that extend the pleasure of your bath.
What are the benefits of a bath ?
A bath offers what a shower cannot replace : a moment of complete relaxation, with the body immersed in warm water at 36-38°C. Regular bathing helps release muscle tension, reduce stress and promote better sleep. It is also the most practical option for families with young children.
With a whirlpool bath, the benefits are amplified : water jets or air bubbles massage the body deeply, for a spa-like experience at home. With a freestanding bath, it is also a strong decorative asset that adds value to the bathroom. For tighter spaces, a corner bath or a semi-freestanding bath allow you to enjoy these benefits without sacrificing space.
All Spalina baths are made from premium acrylic — a soft, lightweight material that retains the heat of the water well.
A unique and distinctive shape
An asymmetric freestanding bathtub isn’t your average tub. Its asymmetry will bring a genuinely artistic touch to your bathroom. Placed at the centre of the room, it will make an intriguing statement. Its captivating contour will immediately catch your eye.
You might choose to surround this centrepiece with either a modern minimalist or traditional décor, depending on your taste. Now’s the time to start dreaming up the perfect decorative ambiance!
A bathtub that combines beauty and comfort
At Spalina, beauty and comfort go hand in hand. For proof, look no further than our asymmetric freestanding bathtub range. We set out to design ergonomic bathtubs that would offer users a comfortable bathing space. To achieve that goal, we decided to build our bathtubs using acrylic.
Your feet and skin will relish acrylic’s silky-smooth feel. And you’ll appreciate its excellent heat retention that will keep your bathwater warm longer.
A tub that will stand the test of time
Concerned about the durability of your asymmetric freestanding bathtub? Worry not! To ensure our bathtubs will stand the test of time, we work with high-quality materials. Moreover, we have the manufacturing process down to a science.
Did you know? Acrylic will resist wear and tear, scuffs, scratches and limescale. That means you’ll be able to keep your asymmetric freestanding bathtub beautiful with minimal effort.
Installing your asymmetric freestanding bathtub
To install your asymmetric freestanding bathtub, simply follow these step-by-step instructions. To start, clear the installation site and make sure the floor is level. Next, place your bathtub at the chosen site and adjust the height of its feet. You should leave a gap of at least 3 mm between the floor and the bathtub’s skirt.
Now onto the plumbing phase: you’ll need to install the strainer, drain and faucet. Lastly, apply silicone sealant along the seam between the tub skirt and the floor.
Note: After installation, we recommend waiting 24 hours before using your asymmetric freestanding bathtub.
Maintaining your bathtub
Maintaining your asymmetric freestanding bathtub will require minimal effort on your part. That said, you’ll need to go about it the right way.
First of all, avoid using rough sponges and harsh chemicals. Instead, use a soft cloth and a gentle acrylic-friendly solution. Lemon juice solutions, for instance, are quite effective at removing limescale. Better yet, you can prevent limescale entirely by wiping your bathtub dry after each shower or bath.
