Any questions?
What is a freestanding bath ?
A freestanding bath — also known as a standalone or freestanding bathtub — is a model that sits freely in the bathroom, without being fixed to a wall. Finished on all sides, it becomes the centrepiece of the room.
Unlike a built-in bath, installation is straightforward : no tiling around it, no panel to fix. It rests on its own feet or an integrated base. At Spalina, all our freestanding baths are made from premium acrylic, available in several shapes — oval, rectangular, round or asymmetric — and in several finishes : gloss white, matte black, matte grey.
Not to be confused with the semi-freestanding bath, which keeps the look of a freestanding model while leaning against a wall — the ideal solution for more compact bathrooms.
Do your bathtubs come with a faucet?
In most cases, faucets are sold separately. You’ll find our complete faucet collection under “Faucets & Accessories”. That said, Spalina does sell a few bathtub + faucet sets. In such cases, this information will be clearly specified in the title of the product information sheet. Otherwise, you can assume a faucet is not included.
What’s the ideal size for my back to wall bathtub?
It depends on your bathroom’s surface area and available wall space. To figure out which back to wall bathtub size is right for you, simply plot the layout of your bathroom, noting the location of each item: toilet, vanity, fixtures, appliances, etc. Then use that plan to determine the appropriate dimensions for your bathtub.
Also be sure to factor in comfort. A few extra centimetres of length can make all the difference, especially if you’re over 180 cm tall!
How much space do you need for a freestanding bath ?
A freestanding bath requires at least 60 cm of clearance on each side to allow comfortable movement and access to the taps. You will therefore need a bathroom of at least 7 to 8 m², depending on the model chosen.
For tighter spaces, compact models are the way to go : the Loom 2.0 (130x130 cm, round) or the Stellar (170x75 cm, rectangular) offer a smaller footprint without compromising on comfort. If you have less than 60 cm of clearance on one side, a semi-freestanding bath will be more suitable — it keeps the look of a freestanding model while leaning against a wall, and is available in 160 cm, 170 cm and 180 cm.

What are the benefits of a bath ?
A bath offers what a shower cannot replace : a moment of complete relaxation, with the body immersed in warm water at 36-38°C. Regular bathing helps release muscle tension, reduce stress and promote better sleep. It is also the most practical option for families with young children.
With a whirlpool bath, the benefits are amplified : water jets or air bubbles massage the body deeply, for a spa-like experience at home. With a freestanding bath, it is also a strong decorative asset that adds value to the bathroom. For tighter spaces, a corner bath or a semi-freestanding bath allow you to enjoy these benefits without sacrificing space.
All Spalina baths are made from premium acrylic — a soft, lightweight material that retains the heat of the water well.
What guarantees does Spalina offer ?
All Spalina baths come with a 2-year warranty against manufacturing and conformity defects. This warranty covers parts and labour in the event of a proven defect. Our after-sales service is available 5d/7 to answer any technical or commercial questions after receipt.
For whirlpool baths, every model is tested for 4 hours in water before dispatch — a systematic step in our specifications that guarantees the correct operation of the entire hydraulic and electrical system before the bath leaves our warehouse.
Spalina is a French brand founded in 2003, specialising in acrylic baths, with over 60,000 baths delivered. For any after-sales enquiry, contact us at hello@spalina.fr or via our contact form.
What tap for a freestanding bath ?
Choosing the right tap for a freestanding bath depends mainly on the shape of the bath and the location of your water supply. Two main families exist : floor-mounted bath taps and deck-mounted taps fitted on the bath rim.
For a freestanding bath with no pre-drilled holes on the rim, a floor-mounted tap is the most suitable solution. At Spalina, we offer four models : Dedge, Vogue, Ondaz and Scarlett — all chrome finish, from 265€. For a bath with pre-drilled holes on the rim, our Infinite chrome and Infinite noire mate sets offer direct installation from 198€.
In all cases, check the number and spacing of the holes on your bath before choosing your tap. If in doubt, our team is available 5d/7 to advise you.
What is the difference between a freestanding bath and a semi-freestanding bath ?
A freestanding bath sits freely in the bathroom, away from all walls. It is finished on all sides and becomes the centrepiece of the room. It requires generous space — allow at least 60 cm of clearance on each side — and a floor water supply.
A semi-freestanding bath leans against a wall. It retains the look of a freestanding model on its three visible sides, while simplifying installation : the water supply can come through the wall, and it takes up less space. It is the ideal solution for bathrooms of 5 to 7 m² that want a beautiful design without space constraints.
In short : if you have the space and a floor water supply, go for a freestanding bath. If your bathroom is more compact or your plumbing runs through the wall, a semi-freestanding bath is more suitable. In both cases, Spalina offers models in 160, 170 and 180 cm, in acrylic, delivered free of charge within 6 working days.
What is the ideal size for a rectangular bath ?
There is no universal size — the choice depends on your height, your bathroom and how you use the bath. That said, a few concrete guidelines help narrow it down.
For someone up to 175 cm, a 170 cm rectangular bath provides full, comfortable immersion. If you are 180 cm or taller, go straight for a 180 cm model — a few extra centimetres make a real difference for your legs. For width, allow at least 75 cm for a relaxed soak ; 80 cm if you like to stretch out fully.
At Spalina, our semi-freestanding rectangular baths come in 170 and 180 cm. Among the most popular models : the Cobalt 170 in white, matte black or matte grey — compact and elegant — and the Mint 180 for those looking for a larger format. All come with a 2-year warranty and free delivery within 6 working days.
Which baths are recommended for small spaces ?
For a small bathroom, the choice of bath depends above all on the layout of your space and the location of your plumbing. Several solutions exist to enjoy a real bath without sacrificing circulation.
In a corner : a corner bath fits into an unused corner and frees up the centre of the room. The Capri 150 (right or left) is our most compact model in this configuration, from 879€.
Wall-mounted : a semi-freestanding bath offers the look of a freestanding model with a smaller footprint. The Mint 150 and Naos 150 measure 150x75 cm — our most compact references in this range.
Freestanding : if you have at least 7 m², our 150 cm freestanding baths such as the Kelly 150 or Loona 150 offer a great balance between design and space saving. For compact whirlpools, the Maldives Jets (135x135 cm) is our smallest whirlpool model. All delivered free of charge within 6 working days, 2-year warranty.
How to design a small bathroom with a freestanding bath ?
Installing a freestanding bath in a small bathroom is perfectly possible, as long as you choose the right format and optimise the layout. Here are the key rules.
Choose the right format : for a bathroom of 5 to 7 m², go for 150 cm models such as the Kelly 150 or the Loona 150. The Loom 2.0 (130x130 cm, round) is our most compact model — its circular format means it fits in almost any space.
Respect clearances : allow at least 60 cm of free space on each side of the bath for circulation and access to the taps. If this is not possible on one side, a semi-freestanding bath will be more suitable — it leans against a wall, saving space while keeping the freestanding look.
Optimise the space : position the bath along the main axis of the room or at a diagonal to create a sense of volume. Avoid bulky furniture nearby. A corner bath such as the Capri 150 is also an excellent alternative for small spaces — it fits into a corner and frees up the centre of the bathroom.
Can you fit a rectangular bath in a small bathroom ?
Yes, absolutely — as long as you choose the right format and configuration. A rectangular bath is actually one of the most suitable shapes for small spaces, as its straight lines integrate easily along a wall and make the most of the available space.
For a bathroom of 5 to 6 m², opt for a rectangular semi-freestanding bath — it leans against a wall, reducing the floor footprint while keeping the freestanding look. Our Mint 150 (150x75 cm) and Naos 150 (150x75 cm) models are our most compact references.
For a bathroom of 6 to 8 m², a rectangular freestanding bath such as the Stellar (170x75 cm) or the Kira 170 installs easily with 60 cm of clearance on each side. If you also want a whirlpool bath, the Tenzo Wave (170x75 cm) is our slimmest rectangular whirlpool model. All come with a 2-year warranty and free delivery within 6 working days.
